Enough is enough.

For as long as i can remember i have always been into baseball. it started at a young age, and then continued as i grew. i played tee-ball, and little league until i was too old to play. i unfortunately didnt continue playing in high school which is a decision i wish i could take back.

as much as my dad would dispute this, i believe i got my love of the game from my mom, who is just as big a fan as i am, if not more. what is unique about me and my moms admiration for baseball are the 2 teams we follow. i am a red sox fan, and my mom is a die hard yankees fan. yes it does get heated around my house during the season, and there have been occasions where i have actually been grounded for bad mouthing the yankees. not anymore of course.

when i was a young ignorant prick i would participate in the "yankees suck" chant. looking back i really wish i hadnt. the yankees suck chant is one of the most childish things i have ever witnessed and i laugh at anyone who participates in it. i say this because most of the time, its just not true, the yankees really dont suck. they have won 27 championships, and this year are most likely on their way to winning a 28th. they also won 100 games this year. teams that suck dont win 100 games.

any true fan of the game would totally agree with me. anytime i hear that chant i feel that it makes our fan base look like fools. dont get me wrong, i understand the rivalry COMPLETELY. all the players that have flip flopped from each side. all the times the yankees bounced us from the playoffs. i completely understand. i put a hole in my wall with a golf club when aaron boone hit that home run off tim wakefield in 2003. i was so mad. and of course i remember the "curse of the bambino." every sox fan grows up with the knowledge of what happened with babe ruth.

so i say enough is enough with the "yankees suck" chant. they really have never truly sucked. the royals suck. the nationals suck. the fucking pirates havnt had a winning season in 8 seasons? i forget the actual amount of time, but they suck. we are fortunate that we actually have a shot to go to the playoffs and win a championship every year. a lot of teams dont. the yankees dont suck, and any real fan out there can totally respect what they have accomplished. this is coming from a red sox fan.
